World Science and Spirituality Convention from Jan 13

New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) In an attempt to propagate ''holistic living'' among the masses, the World Academy of Spiritual Sciences (WASS) will host the first World Convention on Science and Spirituality (WCSS) here from January 13.

The fourth International Vedic Convention is also being held simultaneously with WCSS.

The two-day WCSS convention, held in collaboration with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, is expected to be attended by more than 1,500 delegates.

Union Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni will inaugurate the convention. Director General of Health Services Dr S K Srivastava, WHO Regional Advisor Mental Health Dr Vijay Chandra and Cardiology Society National President Dr S K Parashar will participate in the convention.

Author Deepak Chopra will deliver the key note address on ''Exploration in Consciousness'' followed by Sadguru Jaggi Vasdev's speech on Creation to Creator''.

Talking to reporters here, WASS Founder Chairman Dr S K Sama said the objective of the Academy is to create awareness about the value of spiritual practices and healthy lifestyle.

''We are aiming at amalgamation of science with spirituality. We want to validate spiritual practices with scientific evidence,'' he added.

Dr Sama, an eminent Gastroenterologist, said by regular spiritual practices of yoga, pranayam, meditation and diet and by nurturing mind with positive thoughts people can lead a healthy life.

''We are the creators and architects of our own destiny by making correct choices. With spiritual practices, love and compassion and acceptance we may create perfect health in our country at a very low cost,'' he added.

Expressing similar views WASS Vice President Dr H K Chopra stressed on the need for optimisation of lifestyle by spiritual practises.

''Ninety five per cent of the diseases in the world are caused by faulty lifestyle and time has come to correct that,'' he added.
