UP govt notifies CBI probe into Nithari killings

Lucknow, Jan 9 (UNI) Four days after Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav announced CBI probe into Nithari killings, the Uttar Pradesh government today notified the same, paving way for the investigation by the independent agency.

The state government issued two separate notifications--for Nithari killings as wel as for Dr Kavita Rani murder case in Meerut.

The notifications had been issued under section 6 of Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946, Home Secretary R M Srivastava told UNI tonight.

Now, the Centre has to complete some formalities to commence the probe into one of the most sensational cases in the recent times.

Mr Yadav, under attack from all the quarters over the ghastly killings of children, had announced the CBI probe on January 5.
