Sikar, Jan 9 (UNI) Tension prevailed today in the village near the famous Khatu Shyam temple in Sikar district over demolitions carried out in the area.

Khatu town observed a bandh and the police have been monitoring the situation. The demolition drive carried by the temple trust in the area surrounding the temple yesterday triggered protests led by Ratangarh's Independent legislator Rajkumar Rinwa and his supporters.

Mr Rinwa was protesting against the drive as his relative's sweet shop in the area was mowed down. The police have arrested him yesterday along with village sarpanch Ashadevi and 18 others.

They were, however, released later.

A protest rally was taken out yesterday against the police action and meetings were organised.

The sweet shop, which was mowed down, belonged to one Madan Pujari and following his death, it is now run by his wife and sarpanch Ashadevi. The demolition of her house was stopped after orders by the High Court.
