Supplyco MD removed

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 9 (UNI) The Kerala Cabinet today decided to remove State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) Managing Director Jacob Thomas from the post.

Briefing newspersons after the meeting, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said Mr Yogesh Gupta would be the new Supplyco Manging Director.

Mr Thomas would be the new Managing Director in the State Film Development Coporation, he added.

Mr Achuthanandan will take over as the Cabinet also decided to issue necessary orders for a CBI inquiry into the corruption in the purchase of articles in the Supplyco during the past six year.

However, Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran said the transfer of Mr Thomas was not done under pressure from anyone and it was a simple administrative matter.
