SR to run special trains to clear extra rush

Chennai, Jan 9: Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu has ordered to run special trains from Chennai to various destinations from tomorrow to January 17 to clear extra rush in connection with Pongal festival.

A Southern Railway release today said that the Chennai Egmore - Nagercoil special will leave here at 20.15 hrs on January 10 and 14 and arrive Nagercoil at 10.45 hrs, the next day.

In its return journey, the train will leave Nagercoil at 13.30 hrs on January 11 and 15 and arrive Chennai Egmore at 04.30 hrs, the next day.

On January 16, the Chennai Egmore- Nagercoil Special will leave here at 19.00 hrs and arrive Nagercoil at 08.15 hrs the next day.

In its return, the train will leave Nagercoil at 13.30 hrs on January 17 and arrive Chennai Egmore at 04.30 hrs the next day.

On January 10, 12 and 16, the Nagercoil- Chennai Egmore special will leave Nagercoil at 20.30 hrs and arrive Chennai Egmore at 09.30 hrs the next day.

In its return journey, the train will leave Chennai Egmore at 20.15 hrs on January 11, 13 and 17 and arrive Nagercoil at 10.45 hrs the next day.

On January 15, the Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil special will leave Chennai Egmore at 19.00 hrs and arrive Nagercoil at 08.15 hrs, the next day, the release said.

The Nagercoil-Chennai Central special will leave Nagercoil at 22.00 hrs on January 14 and arrive Chennai Central at 16.30 hrs the next day. The Coimbatore-Chennai Central special will leave Coimbatore at 23.45 hrs on January 16 and arrive Chennai Central at 08.30 hrs, the next day.

In its return journey, the train will leave Chennai Central at 22.20 hrs on January 17 and arrive Coimbatore at 07.15 hrs the next day.

The Chennai Central- Trivandrum special will leave Chennai Central at 22.00 hrs on January 11,14 and 16 and arrive Trivandrum at 16.30 hrs the next day.

In its return direction, the train will leave Trivandrum at 20.00 hrs on January 12,15 and 17 and arrive Chennai Central at 12.15 hrs the next day.

The Chennai Central - Trivandrum special will leave Chennai Central at 16.00 hrs on January 13 and arrive Trivandrum at 07.00 hrs the next day.

In its return direction, the train will leave Trivandrum at 10.30 hrs on January 14 and arrive Chennai Central at 04.00 hrs the next day.

Advance reservation for these special trains will commence from tomorrow, the release added.
