Seminar on IPR issues in Kochi on Jan 25

Kochi, Jan 9: The Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) will conduct a one-day seminar on IPR related industrial property issues on January 25 here.

Experts in the fields of Patents, Intellectual Property Rights, TRIPS regime and Protection of Geographical Indications would be participating in the seminar, a release said.

The seminar would create awareness among the public on the positive and negative implications of TRIPS agreement, including the amendments to the Patent Law on access to food and medicine at an affordable cost.

The other sensitive issue which would be taken up in the seminar was the protection of traditional knowledge in the light of its extensive misappropriation by developed countries using the TRIPS regime, the release added.
