Scrap merchant feared abducted

Puducherry, Jan 9 (UNI) A scrap merchant was allegedly abducted by a few persons at Vanarapet near here yesterday.

Senior Superintendent of Police Chaya Sharma told UNI that Pandiyan (23) was missing since yesterday. She said four people, known to Pandiyan, visited his house last evening and he went out along with them. Thereafter, he did not return home and his father Ponnusamy preferred a complaint with the police.

Since the mobile phone of Pandiyan remained switched off, since yesterday, police registered a case of abduction, even though there was no telephone call from anybody demanding ransom, Ms Sharma added.
