RLD ministers' resignations not linked to Kavita murder: Ajit Singh

Lucknow, Jan 9 (UNI) Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Ajit Singh today clarified that the resignations of his party's ministers from the Mulayam Singh Yadav government were not linked to Dr Kavita Rani murder case.

''Only one of our ministers (Babu Ram) was linked to the murder and he has since resigned...the three ministers today handed me their resignations to protest the marginal hike in SAP of sugarcane by the government,'' he said.

Mr Singh said he was happy at the decision of the state government to hand over the probe of Kavita's murder to CBI. ''We have also demanded an impartial probe,'' he added.

Asked if Kiranpal Singh of Samajwadi Party should also resign following his alleged involvement in the case, Mr Singh said much depended on the minister's wisdom.
