Police station gheraoed

Bilaspur, Jan 9 (UNI) Police have exercised mild force to disperse agitators who carried a corpse to the Civil Lines Police Station in this Chhattisgarh town and gheraoed it demanding the arrest of a youth whom they blamed for the murder.

''The victim was murdered late on January 7,'' Additional Superintendent of Police Govardhan Singh Darro said yesterday while denying a canecharge.

Two other youths were already apprehended that night itself and a first information report registered. Police officers described the demonstrators' demand as improper.

Shakeel Ahmed (20) was stabbed by three youths at Imlipara and succumbed in hospital. After post mortem was conducted yesterday afternoon, the demonstrators headed for the police station.
