Plea to convene Parliament to discuss Saddam's execution
New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) General Secretary Tariq Anwar today suggested convening of a special session of Parliament to discuss issues pertaining to Iraq, especially the execution of its exiled President Saddam Hussain by the US.
''This will enable us to formally express our strong condemnation for sending a constitutionally recognised President of a sovereign and independent nation to gallows,'' Mr Anwar said in a letter addressed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
He said, ''Let the Parliamentary representatives of our country collectively decide what our stance must be.'' Mr Anwar said, ''I must say our position on the violation of Iraq's sovereignty and the violent highhandedness of the US so far has been so insufficient that it almost amounts to indifference.''
