Patel for pvt participation for airport development in Maharashtra

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jan 9 (UNI) Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today mooted an idea of private-public participation for setting up of new airports through Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in smaller towns of the state.

Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony of the proposed Rs 100 crore Aurangbad Airport Development project here this evening, Mr Patel said that this would pave way for faster development of the state.

Taking a cue from the speech of Maharashtra Industry Minister Ashok Chavan, who had pleaded the Civil Aviation Minister for setting up airports at the district towns of the state in order to create investment potential environment for the investors from both domestic and foreign.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil in his speech also had exhorted the need for establishing air linkage at the smaller towns of backward Marathwada districts in order to carry out much needed development in the backward region of the Central Maharashtra.

Mr Patil had pointed out the importance of various pilgrimage centres in Marathwada and said that air linkage will benefit the tourism development in the region as well as employment generation.
