One lakh students covered under mid-day meal in Baramulla

Srinagar, Jan 9 (UNI) Under the mid-day meal scheme, more than one lakh students have been covered in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir during past 8 months, an official spokesman said today.

These students have been drawn from 2453 schools while free text books were provided to about 1.37 lakh students from class I to VIII in the district, he added.

The spokesman said about 17,269 students of Gujjar and Bakerwal community were given scholarships.

The scholarships, amounting to Rs 30.43 lakh, were provided to the students. Besides, merit scholarships were given to another 6829 students in the district, he added.
