Mizo-poor men to fight against corruption and poverty
Aizawl, Jan 09 (UNI) Poverty-striken people of Mizoram formed an organisation, "Mizoram Mirethei Inzawmkhawm" (MMI)--Association of poor People, here today to fight against corruption and for the development of economically backward people of the state.
Addressing mediapersons, MMI president Lalzawmliana said the main objective of the organisation was to ensure that the gap between rich and poor decreases.
mr Lalzawmliana said MMI has no intention to move against government but it would fight against corruption and financial manupulation of the state and act as a "watch-dog" for development projects if poor people get their share.
He
accused
the
political
parties
of
the
state
for
oppressing
the
backward
people
and
said,
''Every
political
party
promises
to
eradicate
proverty
before
elections
but
forget
about
it
once
they
came
into
power.''
