The injured were first admitted to the local Civil Hospital in a critical condition, and later referred to DMC hospital, Ludhiana.

They were returning to their village in Garhshanker from Raja Sansi Airport, Amritsar.

According to reports received this morning, the miscreants, travelling in two cars, overtook their car near the Phagwara Bypass and forced them to halt.

They then attacked them with sharp-edged weapons, inflicting serious injuries on Satnam Singh, an NRI, who was returning from Australia to Bisyala village in Garhshanker alongwith his brother Surjit Singh and cousin Satwinder Singh in a car.

The miscreants then fled, after looting them of 6000 US dollars, two cameras, two mobile phones and some other valuables.

Phagwara ASP Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, said the miscreants had attacked the trio due to an old enmity and it was not robbery.
