Medha Patkar announces 'Action 2007'

Hyderabad, Jan 9 (UNI) Social activist Medha Patkar today said the National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM) will launch 'Action 2007' on January 26, to press the government to solve the problems facing the displaced at project sites, atrocities on dalits and human rights violation.

Addressing newspersons here, Ms Patkar said the NAPM would hold a mass hunger strike on January 30 at all district headquarters to protest against increasing terrorism, communalism and other anti-social activities in the country.

Alleging that Centre as well as the state governments had failed to render justice to the displaced at the project sites, she said the NAPM would organise an indefinite dharna in New Delhi, demanding that the government provide livelihood to the poor and agricultural labourers without any delay.
