Man sentenced to seven years for sexually assaulting daughters

New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) A city court today sentenced a 50-year-old man to seven years imprisonment and fined him Rs 32,000 for raping and molesting his two minor daughters in 2001.

According to the prosecution, Subhash Chabra molested his five-year-old daughter many times apart from raping his seven-year-old daughter.

The mother of the two girls, Manju Chabra after coming to know of the crime had initially approached her father Tulsi Ram instead of going to the police.

The accused had confessed his crime to his father-in-law and had apologised but after some time raped his elder daughter again.

Manju then registered a complaint against her husband at the Mehrauli Police Station and charges under section 376, 354 and 506 were framed against Subhash on October 2003.

The prosecution examined 11 witnesses in the case and medico-legal certificate also proved the sexual assault committed by Subhash.

Additional sessions judge Swarna Kanta Mehra found the accused guilty and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment apart from imposing a Rs 32,000 fine upon him.
