Life imprisonment for two BSF jawans

Jaisalmer, Jan 9 (UNI) Two jawans of Border Security Force have been sentenced to life imprisonment for their involvement in the murder of their senior colleague almost a year ago.

A BSF jury conducting the Court of Inquiry found jawan Hariram and Devcharan guilty of murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment under Section 302 and recommended their expulsion from the force.

According to sources, jawan Hariram shot dead head constable Dharamveer posted at Durga check post on January 13, 2006. Constable Devcharan has been accused of aiding Hariram in misleading the authorities regarding the crime.

Police also produced a challan regarding the case in a local court. But BSF set up a special jury and began the Court of Inquiry.

After the case was transferred from the lower court, the jawans were handed over to the force.
