Hoshiarpur, Jan 9 (UNI) The Janta Dal (United) will field candidates from 11 constituencies having significant migrant population and planned to have alliance with non-Congress and non-SAD (B)-led front in the coming Punjab assembly polls.

Mr Inderjeet Saini, president of state unit of Janta Dal (United), today told reporters that party would field candidates in seats represented by socialists in the past and had significant population of migrants from Bihar and Utter Pradesh.

These constituencies included Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Mansa, Kapurthala, Moga and Rupnagar, he said.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, party's National President Sharad Yadav and NDA Convenor George Fernandes would campaign for the candidates, he added.

Mr Saini claimed that since migrants were emotionally attached with JD (U) leaders, the chances were bright that the party candidates would get their votes.

Mr Saini further disclosed that the national leadership of JD (U) had approached SAD (B) leaders for forging an alliance to defeat the Congress, but did not get a positive response.

Now JD (U) would hold talks with left front and other SAD factions for the alliance, Mr Saini said adding that JD (U) national leaders would campaign against SAD-BJP alliance in all assembly seats.
