JD (U) demands Shivraj Patil's resignation over Asom killings
New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) Criticising the Congress government in Asom and at the Centre, the Janata Dal (United) has demanded the resignation of Home Minister Shivraj Patil in view of the killings of innocent non-Assamese migrants by ULFA over the past three days.
''The killings of non-Assamese migrants were possible on account of an undeclared alliance between the Congress party and the United Liberation Front of Asom,'' alleged the JD(U) at an emergency meeting held here today under the Chairmanship of Mr Sharad Yadav.
The Asom government and the Centre had been ''ignoring'' the warning given by the Governor, Armed forces and intelligence agencies. ''They have allowed the ULFA to reorganise itself misusing the ceasefire,'' the party charged.
The party also demanded that certain affected areas of Asom be immediately declared as disturbed and the armed forces should take care of the security there.
