Indefinite boycott affects work in Puducherry courts
Puducherry, Jan 9 (UNI) Functioning of courts in Puducherry were affected as the lawyers began an indefinite boycott today in protest against the hurling of slippers at a judge by a prisoner.
The lawyers sought the dismissal of police personnel, who accompanied the undertrial, transfer of the court police constable en masse and an apology from the prison officials.
Ramesh, an undertrial prisoner in a riot case, frustrated over the continued postponing of the dates of his case, flung slippers at the Judicial Magistrate-1 N Vaidyanathan and also abused him inside the courtroom yesterday.
