'Eternal Gandhi' multimedia exhibit in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Jan 9: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is slated to inaugurate a multimedia digital moving exhibition titled 'Eternal Gandhi' as part of the two-day Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit here tomorrow.

The exhibition, which has come from Pune to the land of Gandhi, is computerised and simply by touching the object consoles as laid out on the screen, one can read Bapu's message and history.

Explaining the concept to mediapersons here yesterday, Aditya Birla group's Project Director Mr Ranjit Makkauni said, ''The project explores modern art, design and interactive technology as a medium of cultural continuity, reviving the values by which India obtained freedom. It also redefined those values in order to animate modern products and design.'' ''From Mohandas to Mahatma is the timeline browser which tells us pictorially about the important events in the life of Gandhi. By sliding a piece of cardboard, the timeline in digital form is activated. There are 50 such computerised installations each presenting an aspect of Gandhi and his era.'' This global Gandhi's installation is said to be the first of it's kind. It expounds the Gandhian way of life and vision in relation to current day values and needs of the people.

The exhibition is an initiative of the Aditya Birla group, which believes in the trusteeship concept of management, said Mr Bharat Parekh from the Aditya Birla Group.

''The trusteeship concept was the vision of the Mahatma, and the Aditya Birla Group has taken up this initiative since he spent his last days at Birla House in Delhi,'' Mr Parekh said.

''Crores of people are expected to visit the place during the 15 days after the beginning of Vibrant Gujarat from 11th to 25th January. NRIs alone are expected to number around, 500 apart from several foreign delegations,'' Wing Commander (retd) K M Gadkary of FICCI said. FICCI is hosting the pavillion.
