Eight arrested in credit card stealing and encashment case
Mumbai, Jan 9 (UNI) City police arrested eight persons for their alleged involvement in stealing and encashment of 37 credit cards of several National Banks from a courier boy near the Lower Parel railway station in southcentral Mumbai.
Speaking to mediapersons here today Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Punjabrao Ugale said the accused persons had kidnapped courier boy Sachin Tirmole at knife point and taken him to Juhu Chowpatti (beach) in the western suburbs.
Tirmole was held captive at Juhu beach by two persons while six people distributed the credit cards among themselves and purchased valuables worth Rs 10.50 lakh from shops situated in Dadar, Lalbaug and Parel areas in southcentral Mumbai last month.
Later the goods were equally distributed among all the eight persons and then Tirmole was released.
Tirmole had revealed that one of the accused person had come to the courier office prior to the incident, Mr Ugale said.
From the address given in the bio-data, Sandeep Moradkar was nabbed by the police. Moradkar had confided the names of the other persons to police.
They were identified as Sachin Jadhav, Dilip Rane, Vijay Rangole, Rajendra Shigvane, Mohammed Khan, Satyam Pathade and Samir Gawade.
