Delhi Govt not serious on sending Assy suggestions on MPD 2021:Muki
New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly Jagdish Mukhi today expressed doubts over whether suggestions given on the 2021 Master Plan by members of the Assembly, during the two-day special session, would be sent to the Urban Development Ministry for necessary amendments in the MPD 2021.
Addressing a press conference here, Prof Mukhi said,''Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Delhi Urban Development Minister A K Walia did not seem serious yesterday, the concluding day of the session, to send the valuable suggestion by members to the Urban Development Ministry. This is because the first para of the resolution moved by them called for immediate implementation of the MPD 2021.'' ''We too are in favour of implementation of the Plan, but not before making these amendments so as to avoid the destruction of Delhi,''Prof Mukhi said.
Stating that the best course would be to concretise the suggestions brought on the floor of the House and putting the seal of the House on the document to create pressure on the Delhi Development Authority and the Urban Development Minister, he demanded the Chief Minister to provide him a list of suggestions to be sent to the DDA and the Urban Development Ministry.
''The non sensitivity of the Government is apparently clear by the fact that when on the floor of the Assembly the plan was being discussed, sealing and demolition was going on in various parts of the city,''Prof Mukhi said.
On the passing of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2007, increasing the number of seats in the MCD house, Prof Mukhi said,''bringing the Bill at this late stage is clearly to use it as an excuse to postpone MCD polls. Congress is running away from the elections as it cannot face Delhiites today because of large scale sealing and demolition in the city.'' He said the BJP had moved amendments to hold MCD polls before April 7 but these amendments were straight away rejected by the Chief Minister of Delhi.
''It clearly shows their intentions to postpone elections,''he said.
