Customs, excise revenue up 17% at Rs 1,44,201cr till Dec'06
New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) The customs and excise collection has registered 17 per cent growth at Rs 1,44,201 crore for the period of April-December 2006, as compared to Rs 1,23,212 crore during the corresponding period last year.
While, the collection for the month of December posted 14.9 per cent rise at Rs 17,252 crore, it was Rs 15,012 crore during the same period last year.
The revenue through service tax registered 65 per cent growth at Rs 21,779 crore for the period of April-November 2006, as compared to Rs 13,201 crore over the corresponding period last year.
The service tax collection in the month of November posted 65.3 per cent rise at Rs 2,987 crore, against Rs 1,807 crore during the same period last year.
