CIRM conducts 39,681 inspections to enforce labour laws
New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) In a bid to implement various labour laws, the Central Industrial Relations Machinery (CIRM) has conducted 39,681 inspections during 2005-06, as compared to 40,306 inspections in 2004-05.
However, the number of prosecutions launched in the year 2005-06 is 11,661, while in 2004-05, the figure was 13,457.
Out of 11,661 prosecutions, the number of convictions secured is 10,701, as against 8,105 out of 13,457 in 2004-05.
During 2005-06, CIRM averted 486 strikes with handling of 493 cases of threatened strikes.
Besides, it also implemented 530 awards while 676 awards were in the process of implementation.
