New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) Leader of Opposition and senior BJP leader L K Advani today hailed the contributions of Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar, the second chief of RSS in producing 'men of character' for nation building activities after independence.

Presiding over the release of the book 'Yugantarkari', to commemorate the birth centenary of Mr Golwalkar who took over the reigns of RSS in 1940s and guided its destiny till early 70s, Mr Advani said it was the far sightedness of the Guru Golwarkarji that had made RSS a machine, which churned out 'men of character' in independent India.

Having taken over the RSS leadership at a time when the country was on the verge of achieving freedom he realised that the running a big nation required men of character to occupy the key jobs. Hence he used his organisation to train men and women in all fields be it education, science, politics or culture as future builders of the country.

RSS Secretary General Mohanrao Bhagwat releasing "Yugantarkari', a novel, a translation of noted Marathi writer Shubhangi Bhadbade's work recalled the contributions of the Guruji in building a good and harmonious society. It is his selfless work that has enabled the society to build a harmonious society, he said.
