Writer Omkar cremated
Vijayawada, Jan 8 (UNI) The remains of writer Omkar were consigned to flames at Swargapuri here today.
Omkar, 47, a noted script writer, columnist and journalist, passed away in Chennai yesterday after suffering a massive cardiac stroke.
He is survived by his wife and a son. He was admitted to a private hospital on January 4 following a severe bout of asthma.
The last journey started from Bank Colony in Srinivasanagar in which his friends and admirers participated.
Born on June 17, 1960, at Penamuluru in Krishna district, he started his career as a print journalist. He worked as a sub-editor in 'Andhra Jyothi' and was a news reader in All India Radio (AIR).
Presently, Omkar was working as a columnist in 'Swathi' magazine.
After shooting into fame as a theatre personality, he had written scripts for films, acted in several films and directed one of them as well.
Omkar also wrote scripts for several television serials.
Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, former BJP president Venkiah Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Cine Writers' Association general secretary and film writer Parachuri Gopala Krishna condoled the demise.
