Seven Parties-Maoists discussions on interim constitution begins

Kathmandu, Jan 8 (UNI) The meeting between the seven political parties and the Maoists began at Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala's residence this morning to fix the date for announcing the interim constitution.

Senior leaders of all the eight parties arrived at Baluwatar for deciding the promulgation of the interim constitution.

The meeting is expected to fix the date for announcing the interim constitution and will also discuss on the formation of the interim government, apart from discussions on political issues, including law and order situation, violent activities launched by the Terai Janatantrik Mukti Morcha and latest development on arms management issue.

A meeting between Maoist leaders Prachanda and Dr Babu Ram Bhattrai and Mr Koirala yesterday had decided to call the meeting of all the senior leaders.

Maoists leader Dr Bhattrai said they had urged Mr Koirala to announce the interim constitution within the second week of January.

Maoists have announced that they will be compelled to start another movement if the government does not promulgate the interim constitution, form interim legislature and announce the dates of the polls by mid-January.
