Seven Parties-Maoists disc on interim const begins

Kathmandu, Jan 8: The meeting between the seven political partiesand the Maoists began at Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala'sresidence this morning to fix the date for announcing the interimconstitution.

Senior leaders of all the eight parties arrived at Baluwatar for deciding the promulgation of the interim constitution.

The meeting is expected to fix the date for announcing the interimconstitution and will also discuss on the formation of the interimgovernment, apart from discussions on political issues, including lawand order situation, violent activities launched by the TeraiJanatantrik Mukti Morcha and latest development on arms managementissue.

A meeting between Maoist leaders Prachanda and Dr Babu RamBhattrai and Mr Koirala yesterday had decided to call the meeting ofall the senior leaders.

Maoists leader Dr Bhattrai said they had urged Mr Koirala toannounce the interim constitution within the second week of January.

Maoists have announced that they will be compelled to startanother movement if the government does not promulgate the interimconstitution, form interim legislature and announce the dates of thepolls by mid-January.
