Kerala: Security will be beefed up at tourist centres

Kochi, Jan 8: Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said security would be beefed up at tourist centres in the state.

Mr Balakrishnan, after mecting Eva Coaster, a tourist from Sweden undergoing treatment at a hospital here for injuries she sustained after a man attacked her yesterday at a resort in Thekaddy, told newspersons that directions were given to police to deploy adequate force at tourist centres in the state.

Though the attack was an isolated one, the government was taking it seriously, Mr Balakrishnan said.

The Minister also assured all treatment facilities for Ms Eva.

In a shocking incident, a local youth Santhosh (30) attacked Ms Eva and her husband Jan Coaster at the resort in Thekkady yesterday.

The couple was part of a 23-member Swedish team visiting the state.
