Sandeep Antil emerges hero for Maratha Warriors

Chennai, Jan 8 (UNI) Sandeep Antil emerged hero as Maratha Warriors edged past Chandigarh Dynamos 5-4 via sudden death to gain two points in the third ESPN-Premier Hockey League here this evening.

Both the teams shared two goals at the end of regulation time with Bharat Kumar scoring for the winners in the second quarter and Rampal finding the march for Chandigarh in the fourth quarter.

After the two-halves of extra time failed to break the deadlock, tie breaker was resorted to where both the teams scored three of the five shots, making it 4-4 (1-1).

In the sudden death, Sandeep Antil scored on the one-on-one innovation system, introduced for the first time, by dribbling past the goal keeper from 25-yard line and found the mark within the stipulated eight seconds.

This was second victory for Maratha Warriors in three matches, while Chandigarh Dynamos suffered their third successive loss.
