Prisoner hurls chappals at judge in Puducheery

Puducherry, Jan 8 (UNI) In a fit of rage, an undertrial hurled slippers at a judge, hearing his case at a local court here today.

According to police, Ramesh alias Chiranjeevi, accused in riot case became furious as his case was being frequently posted to further dates.

Initially, he used harsh words towards the judge N Vaidyanathan and later threw one slipper at him. As none stopped Ramesh, he hurled the other chappal at the Judge. In the melee, the typewriter at the court was damaged.

Following this, the Judge left the court room immediately.

A complaint was preferred with Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Damodaran seeking action against Ramesh.

Meanwhile, members of the BAR association staged a emonstration at the court premises condemning the incident. They also met the CJM, seeking action against Ramesh.
