MDMK general council members file impleading petitions

Chennai, Jan 8 (UNI) Expressing solidarity with MDMK Leader Vaiko, 1,329 General Council members filed impleading petitions in Madras High Court in the case filed against the removal of Rebel Leaders L Ganesan and Gingee N Ramachandran from party posts.

In a statement here, MDMK Legal Wing Secretary G Devadoss said the general council members filed individual impleading petitions.

They included 35 district secretaries and various party functionaries.

The impleading petitions are likely to be heard when the case filed by Mr Sampath of the rebel faction against the action taken on Mr Ganesan and Mr Ramachandran comes up for hearing on January 12, Mr Devadoss said.

The filing of impleading petitions by the general council members assumed significance in view of Mr Vaiko convening the General Council on January ten to demonstrate his strength in the party.
