LU to open from Jan 11

Lucknow, Jan 8 (UNI) Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today directed the Lucknow University (LU) authorities to open the varsity for academic activities from January 11.

A division bench comprising Justices Pradeep Kant and A K Singh passed this order on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by a local lawyer, Jayant Tomar.

Besides, the HC has also ordered that the process of allocation of hostel to students be also completed by January 18 next.

The next date of hearing has been fixed on January 19.

On December 8 last year, LU Vice Chancellor R P Singh had ordered for the varsity's indefinite closure and purging of hostels.
