Legislator arrested for protesting ceiling
Jaipur, Jan 8 (UNI) Independent legislator Rajkumar Rinwa was arrested today after he protested a ceiling drive in the area surrounding the famous Khatushyamji Temple in Sikar district.
The temple trust is currently carrying on a ceiling drive in surrounding areas to expand the temple and also acquire property in the process.
Mr Rinwa, MLA from Ratangarh, protested the move as a sweet shop belonging to his relative Madan Pujari was also brought down in the drive. Police is supposed to have beaten up Rinwa and he sustained head injuries, said his secretary.
Police arrested Mr Rinwa on the charges of disrupting law and order in the area.
The situation is tense in Khatu village following the arrest. All shops have been closed. Police also arrested 20 other people including Khatu's sarpanch Ashadevi, who is late Madan Pujari's wife.
Large contingents of Rajasthan Armed Constabulary have been deployed in the area and on all the roads leading to the famous temple.
