Infrastructure facilities to be provided in 2009: Minister

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 8 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju today said under Bharat Nirman programme rural infrastructure facilities would be provided by 2009.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone at Pithapuram Mandal, he said Centre would be spending Rs 40,000 crore in 200 backward districts to implement National Rural Employment Guarantee (NREG) scheme. Each family would get employment for one hundred days in a year under the scheme, he added.

Mr Raju said power crisis in the state would be overcome by purchasing from neighbouring states, as the gas-based power generation is not available.
