Gunnery Symposium in Kochi
Kochi, Jan 8 (UNI) A Gunnery symposium on 'Trends in Gunnery and Missile Technology' was inaugurated at INS Dronacharya, the Indian Navy's premier gunnery training base here today.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the symposium, Southern Naval Command Flag Officer, Commanding-in-Chief VAdm Jagjit Singh Bedi said changes brought about as a result of innovations through technology had a profound impact on the manner wars were fought and their outcome.
''Today with land attack cruise missiles, trials on energy weapons and mid-course guidance Surface to Air Missiles, the tapestry of naval warfare has undergone a sea change,'' he added.
He said no amount of change of technological advancements could really have a telling effect unless training was done correctly to imbibe change and technology.
Over 300 delegates including about 20 oustation delegates gathered to participate in the one-day symposium.
The symposium would discuss manning and training policies for contemporary weapon systems, employment of modern gunnery and missile systems for future trends.
