Four die, six injured in accident

Purulia, Jan 08 (UNI) At least four people died and six were seriously injured in an accident at Olongidaga in Purulia district today.

Police said the accident occurred when an over-loaded truck, coming from Jharkhand, rammed into a roadside shop.

All the four, including a woman, succumbed to their injuries on the spot. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, police added.

The shop belonged to a lottery dealer and is located in a crowded part of the town.

''More people would have been killed, had it not been a bandh today,'' the officer-in-charge of Purulia police station said.

The driver fled after the accident, police said adding investigation was on to nab him.
