Fake packaged water, spurious drinks seized

Kancheepuram, Jan 8 (UNI) Municipal Commissioner Umapathy today warned of stern action on those selling fake packaged water or packaged water which had crossed the expiry date Speaking to newsmen after conducting raids at various places in the district during such packaged water cans, bottles and sachets were seized, Mr Umapathy said the public were put to health risk from consuming the water or contaminated soft drinks.

He requested the members of the public to immediately alert the authorities on such spurious drinks or fake packaged water.

Earlier, during a raid they seized 35 litre water cans and two litre water bottles which had crossed the expiry date from a shop near Gangaikondan Mandapam.

Similar raids were conducted at various places including the bus stand and water cans anbd bottles seized.
