Patna, Jan 8 (UNI) The excise department has realised revenue more than the fixed target whereas the registration department was lagging far behind its target during the financial year 2006-07 in Bihar.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who is also holding the finance portfolio, reviewed the performances of the departments and found that the excise department realised Rs 245 crores against the target of Rs 228 crores.

After assessing the situation Mr Modi told newspersons here that the registration department collected Rs 375 crores revenue against the target of Rs 511 crores fixed for the first nine months of the current financial year. He said this department had targetted to realise Rs 700 crores revenue during the financial year 2006-07.

He admitted the revenue collection of the registration department was affected due to slash in the registration fee and lowering of stamp duty.

Mr Modi said the apartment act was being amended to simplify the registration process of flats.
