Ex-serviceman shoots soldier

Lucknow, Jan 8 (UNI) A retired serviceman shot dead a soldier, who claimed to have married his daughter in a local court and allegedly tried to take her to Pune, in the Uttar Pradesh capital today.

Police said Krishna Kant, a non-commissioned officer attached with the Army Medical Corps, had come to the residence of Ram Swaroop Yadav (his father-in-law) this morning to take his wife to Pune, where he was currently deployed.

When Yadav refused, Kant used force. In the melee, Yadav used his licenced single-barrel gun to shoot the soldier.

Krishna Kant died on the spot, the police said.

The police have arrested Yadav and recovered the weapon.
