Debt-ridden family commits suicide

Mysore, Jan 8 (UNI) Mounting debts allegedly drove a woman and her two daughters to commit suicide by jumping into Akkanakota tank at Chikkade village in neighbouring Mandya district, yesterday.

Police identified the victims as Radhamma (50) Brinda (22) and Pavithra (20), residents of Devananakopal village. Radhamma's husband had died 15 years ago, after which the family depended on a plot of land for their livelihood. The trio had left their village to visit Ukkada Maramma temple where they took the extreme step.

The bodies were recovered this morning and sent for post-mortem.
