Association lay siege to Rosaiah's residence

Hyderabad, Jan 8 (UNI) Members of Backward Class Welfare Association today laid a siege to Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah's residence, demanding implementation of the promises made in the budget.

Association President R Krishnaiah, addressing the members said though Backward Classes formed more than 52 per cent of the population, the amount envisaged in the budget for them was 'meagre.' Demanding that the state government enhance the budget for the welfare of backward classes, he said the minimum budgetary provision should be Rs 2,000 crore.

The members withdrew their stir after the minister assured them that he would look into their problems and resolve it after consulting their leaders.
