AP CM inaugurates 'Ceramics Ceratec-2007'

Visakhapatnam, Jan 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the Ceramic industry in the state was growing at a faster pace.

Inaugurating the three-day international seminar 'Ceramics Ceratec-2007' at the Andhra University Engineering College here, he said plans were afoot to set up a Ceramic hub-city at Sabbavaram mandal in the district.

Stating that the Centre had agreed to accord IIT status to the Andhra University Engineering College, the Chief Minister said the state government was contemplating to develop an education village in the city for the proposed education zone for housing renowned business schools which would offer technical courses of international standard.

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) Chairman and Managing Director Y Sivsagar said the seminar would focus on the advancement in ceramic technology and energy efficient system, among other things.

More than 250 delegates, including 15 from Italy, Russia and Germany are participating in the seminar, organised by the Indian Ceramic Society, All India Pottery Manufactures Association and the Indian Institute of Ceramics in association with VSP and Andhra University.
