Antony on Maiden Visit to North-east

New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) Defence Minister A K Antony leaves here tomorrow on a two-day visit to the country's north-east -- his maiden there since assumption of office.

According to an official spokesperson here, Minister Antony -- accompanied by Army Chief General JJ Singh and senior officials -- will be briefed on the operational situation in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh at Tezpur shortly after his arrival there tomorrow.

Subsequently, on Wednesday, the Defence Minister will address a Sainik Sammelan at Rangapahar near Dimapur. He is also slated to visit Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh later the same day.

At both places, the Minister will be briefed on the operational situation in other north eastern states, the spokesperson said.

Minister Antony will also address the troops at these locations.
