UPA soft towards Pakistan on 'terrorism': BJP

Patna, Jan 7 (UNI) The BJP today charged the Congress-led UPA government with being soft towards Pakistan on the issue of terrorism and alleged that by giving green signal for constitution of an India-Pakistan mechanism to fight terrorism it had paved the way for Pakistan to slip away from the group of countries fanning separatist movements.

During its two-day state executive meeting, the BJP hardened its stand against the UPA over the issue of terrorism and alleged that even after having concrete proof of Pakistan backing terrorist attacks in India, the Union government was deliberately ignoring the fact of the neighbouring country's hand in sponsoring acts of terrorism. The state executive members said the BJP-led NDA government had succeeded in placing Pakistan as a ''terrorist sponsoring'' nation but the present government at the Centre failed in mustering courage to take action against the Pakistani terrorists and the attacks made in India by the terrorist groups patronised by the neighbouring country.

The executive alleged that during the Foreign Secretaries level meeting in the month of October, the Indian authorities did not make the efforts even to mention the fact about involvement of Pakistan in July 11 serial attacks in Mumbai. The Commissioner level inquiry which exposed Pakistans hand behind the attack went in vain.

The BJP adopted a resolution to defeat the''dangerous political conspiracy''of the UPA aimed at destabilising the country. The party alleged that the central government was being soft towards the hard core terrorists under its Muslim appeasment policy for its ''vote bank.''The POTA law enacted by the NDA had put a check on the terrorists, the executive members of the BJP said but the UPA repealed it in the name of being it as ''anti Muslim.'' Repealing of POTA gave clear indications of UPA's soft stand towards the terrorists, the BJP said.
