UP writes to CBI to take up Nithari probe
Lucknow, Jan 7 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has written to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take up probe into the sensational Nithari serial killings.
While the letter was ready on Saturday itself, sources said it would be sent tomorrow, the next working day.
Cornered by the opposition and Raj Bhawan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Friday night agreed to separate CBI probes in the Nithari serial killings and the alleged murder of Meerut University ad hoc lecturer Kavita Rani Chaudhury.
''I have taken the decision to order CBI probe after Governor T V Rajeshwar wrote to me a letter for it (Nithari case)...the opposition is also playing politics on bodies of victims,'' he said.
Addressing a hurriedly convened news conference at his official residence here, Mr Yadav said the decision for CBI probe was also suggested by his officials.
The Chief Minister announced a residential plot for each victim's family of Nithari incident, besides to consider demand for government jobs.
