Two arrested with 1.5 kg charas

Dharamshala, Jan 7 (UNI) Two people were arrested at Gurkhari Chowk on the Pathankot-Mandi Highway in Kangra town of Himachal Pradesh after police recovered 1.5 kg of refined charas from their possession, police sources today said.

Two people were arrested from a rain shelter under suspicious circumstances at Gurkhari Chowk last night, Kangra Station House Officer Surender Sharma told UNI here.

He said on seeing the police, they ran away from the rain shelter and were arrested after a chase by the police personnel.

A case has been registered against the two, identified as Narinder Singh and Yusuf Mohammed, under the NDPS Act, he said.

Mr Sharma said during preliminary investigations the two have confessed to having brought charas from Chamba town and was to be delivered to their contact in Kangra town.

More arrests were expected soon as investigations were on, he added.
