Kolkata, Jan 7(UNI) Police had a tough time today when women supporters of Trinamool Congress held an-anti investment demonstration in the lobby of a five star hotel in the city leading to a scuffle with the security guards and whiffing up tension.

The incident occurred when a band of Trinamool Congress activists led by Paschim Sramajibi Mahila Samiti leader Anuradha Talwar entered the lobby of the hotel where, DP World chairman Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem was putting up in a suite and suddenly started shouting slogans against the West Bengal government's industrial policy.

Official sources said they had come to the hotel on the basis of a report that Mr Sulayem would hold talks with the government for construction of the proposed deep sea port at Kulpi in South 24 Parganas district.

However, no official meeting on the issue actually took place in the hotel.

The demonstrators pushed and thrashed the security guards of the hotel, who came to hold them back after recovering from the initial surprise.

Police then removed the demonstrators from the spot.

However, no damage was caused to any property and no one was injured.

Later, another group of Trinamool supporters led by Madan Mitra tried to head towards Chief Minsiter Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's house.

However, they were stopped by the police near Ballygunje place in South Kolkata.

The agitators shouted sloguns on Nandigram and Singur issue and some 10 activists courted arrest after a scuffle with the police.
