TN Minister inauguates PPP

Tiruchirapalli, Jan 7 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Transport Minister K N Nehru formally inaugurated the Pulse Polio Programme (PPP)in Tiruchirapalli district by administering polio drops to the kids at the Corporation Health Centre in Thennur area, here this morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Nehru said over 82,000 children up to the age of five in the City Corporation limits would be vaccinated under the programme through 216 special centres. Apart from the centres, the mobile teams havr been pressed into service to immunise the children at the public places, including bus stands, railway stations and in places of worship.

He said about 870 Government servants, apart from the volunteers of Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) were deployed for carrying out the Immunisation programme.
